The Four Checkride Statuses
Every checkride on DPE Waitlist has one of four statuses. Understanding these statuses helps you manage your schedule and communicate clearly with applicants about where things stand.
OFFERED
A checkride in OFFERED status has been proposed to the applicant but has not yet been accepted. This is the initial state when you create a checkride manually or when the automatic scheduler generates an offer. The applicant receives a notification and can choose to accept or decline.
Offers have an expiration period. If the applicant does not respond within the expiration window, the offer may expire, and the time slot can be offered to another applicant (if the scheduler is enabled) or manually reassigned by you.
CONFIRMED
A checkride moves to CONFIRMED status when the applicant accepts the offer. This means the checkride is locked in on your calendar and both parties have agreed on the date, time, and location. Confirmed checkrides are the ones you should be actively preparing for.
CANCELLED
A checkride is set to CANCELLED when it is called off before it takes place. Either you or the applicant can trigger a cancellation. Cancelled checkrides remain in your history for recordkeeping purposes but are no longer active on your schedule. The applicant's waitlist position is preserved when a checkride is cancelled.
COMPLETE
A checkride moves to COMPLETE status after it has been conducted and you have recorded an outcome. The outcome must be one of three types: Approval (the applicant passed), Disapproval (the applicant did not pass), or Discontinuance (the checkride could not be finished). Checkrides are automatically marked complete after the scheduled date has passed, but no outcome is recorded for your reports until you add one manually.
Status Flow
Checkrides follow a defined progression through these statuses:
- OFFERED — The starting point for every checkride.
- OFFERED → CONFIRMED — When the applicant accepts the offer.
- CONFIRMED → COMPLETE — After the checkride is conducted and an outcome is recorded.
- OFFERED → CANCELLED — If the offer is canceled before the applicant accepts.
- CONFIRMED → CANCELLED — If a confirmed checkride is canceled before it takes place.
Color Coding on the Calendar
Each status has a distinct color on the calendar view, allowing you to scan your week and immediately identify which checkrides are pending acceptance, confirmed, completed, or canceled. The color coding is consistent throughout the platform, including the Checkrides list view.
Filtering by Status
In the Checkrides list view (accessible from the sidebar), you can filter checkrides by status. This is useful for tasks like reviewing all offered checkrides that have not been accepted yet, finding all completed checkrides for a given time period, or reviewing your cancellation history.
