How the Student Relationship Works

On DPE Waitlist, students initiate the instructor relationship. An applicant sends you an authorization request for a specific checkride category (e.g., Private Pilot, Instrument Rating). The authorization is accepted automatically — the student is immediately added to your roster and you can begin creating endorsements and Checkride Preps for them in that category.

You cannot add students to your list directly. The student must initiate the relationship by sending an authorization request.

Your Student List

Click the Students tab in the sidebar to see your student roster. For each student you can see:

  • Their name and the checkride categories they are authorized for.
  • The number of endorsements you have created for them.

You can search by name to find specific students quickly.

Viewing Student Details and Checkride Readiness

Click on any student to view their details. From the student detail view you can see their endorsement history, checkride readiness status, and create new endorsements or Checkride Preps for them.

Removing Authorizations

If an authorization was sent in error or the student-instructor relationship has ended — whether the student has completed their checkride, switched instructors, or discontinued training — you can remove the authorization from the student's detail view. Click Delete and confirm the action.

Removing an authorization prevents you from creating new endorsements or Checkride Preps for that student in that category. Existing endorsements are not affected — they remain valid and visible in the student's records.

There is no need to remove authorizations proactively for students who have completed their checkrides. The authorization does no harm if left active, and the student may return for additional training in the future.
