What This Is For

Applicants can upload a PDF copy of their IACRA-generated FAA Form 8710-1 alongside their other checkride documents. The platform reads the form, fills in the applicant's IACRA-related checklist items, redacts the SSN and any wet instructor signature, and supports a three-party digital signing chain ending with you. This is a shared working copy — the original 8710 still has to be signed in IACRA.

Where to Find the 8710

Open the checkride from the Checkrides page or the calendar and scroll to the documents section. If the applicant has uploaded a form, it appears with a status line summarizing the signing chain so far — for example Signed by Applicant or Signed by Applicant and Instructor. Below the row, a results panel shows what the platform extracted: applicant info, flight hours, instructor signature details, and any warnings (such as a name mismatch).

Signing the Form

Once the applicant and instructor have signed, a Sign 8710 as DPE pill appears on the 8710 row. Clicking it opens the review-and-sign modal:

  1. The relevant page of the PDF is rendered with the DPE signature cell highlighted and scrolled into view.
  2. The form's verbatim certification text is shown alongside the signature area.
  3. A few additional DPE-specific fields collected at signing time are presented for confirmation, including the Aviation English checkbox.
  4. A Click to Sign affordance stamps your saved signature into the highlighted cell. If you don't have a saved signature, you draw one on the signature pad first.

After you sign, the chain summary updates to Signed by Applicant, Instructor, and DPE and the file is re-saved with your stamped signature. You can remove your signature from the same row if you need to redo it.

What the Form Auto-Checks

Two checklist items on the applicant's pre-checkride checklist are tied to the 8710:

  • IACRA submitted — checked as soon as a valid 8710 PDF is uploaded and processed.
  • IACRA signed by instructor — checked when the platform detects a CFI E-SIGN line on the uploaded form, or when the instructor signs the form digitally through the platform.

The Stored Copy

The platform stores a copy of the 8710 with the SSN and any wet instructor signature redacted. Each digital signature is stamped into the appropriate cell on the PDF and never edits the underlying form image. Anyone in the chain can remove their own signature.

The DPE Waitlist copy is for shared review and audit. You still complete and sign the original 8710 in IACRA per FAA process.
