What Publications Are Available

The publications library includes:

  • 14 CFR Part 61 — Certification: Pilots, Flight Instructors, and Ground Instructors. This is the primary regulation governing pilot certification requirements, including the eligibility, aeronautical knowledge, flight proficiency, and experience requirements for each certificate and rating.
  • Advisory Circulars — FAA guidance documents that provide best practices and recommendations related to aviation safety, training, and operations.
  • ACS/PTS documents — Airman Certification Standards (ACS) and Practical Test Standards (PTS) that define the areas of operation, tasks, and standards your DPE will use during the checkride.

Publications are regularly updated from FAA sources to ensure you are reading current versions.

Browsing Publications

Publications are organized by title. Click on a publication to expand it and browse its sections. Each section can be opened to read the full text in a formatted viewer that preserves the official structure and formatting of the regulation.

Reading in the Formatted Viewer

The publication viewer uses clear formatting with proper indentation for subsections and paragraphs, making complex regulations easier to read. Defined terms appear with tooltips — hover over (or tap on mobile) a defined term to see its definition without navigating away from the current section.

Cross-References

Many regulation sections reference other sections (for example, "see § 61.109" within § 61.103). These cross-references are interactive links — click them to jump directly to the referenced section. This makes it easy to follow the web of related requirements without manually searching.
